Bounce, Bounce, Bounce Non-Stop at Sport Bounce of Loudoun

 - by Mia

Sport Bounce of Loudoun, Ashburn, VirginiaI took my daughter to meet with a few of her friends at Sport Bounce of Loudoun in Ashburn, Virginia, during one of their open play times. She and her friends had a great time bouncing non-stop and going up and down the slides there!

In its 10,000 square-foot indoor facility, Sport Bounce has a total of six inflatables – some have slides, some include obstacle courses and one has basketball rings. Their open bounce time is for kids 18 months old and above, and all but two of the inflatables are open to everyone. There is one inflatable with a height requirement of 42″ and one moon bounce for kids under the age of 3. Their website has pictures of their inflatables (I didn’t see the Toddler Play Zone inflatable when I was there).

Mini turbo rush If you have younger kids, or if this is your kid’s first time there, try the Mini Turbo Rush first. It’s 16-foot high, but the slides are not steep and less intimidating than some of the other slides. Once they’re warmed up, try the Indoor Slides at 20-foot high and Dual Lane Tropical Slide at 22-foot high. The Tropical Slide inflatable has a minimum height requirement of 42″.

Tropical slide There is also a moon bounce for kids younger than three years old. The moon bounce has a mini slide inside, so the younger kids can enjoy going up and down the slide.

There are sitting areas in the middle of the facility, but parents are required to supervise their kids and even encouraged to play with their kids. The inflatables and moon bounces are so large that you can go down the slides if you’d like. For safety reasons, they do ask that you do not bounce or jump in the moon bounce when young children are present.

I ended up going up to one of the larger slides to supervise our kids so they didn’t bump into each other (yes, it happened in the first ten minutes we were there) and couldn’t resist going down the slides myself. It was a lot of fun – I definitely felt butterflies in my stomach!

In addition to moon bounces or inflatables, they also have two play rooms for kids to play in. The rooms are filled with toys, so kids can play basketball, hop on bouncy balls, get on a rocker, crawl under a caterpillar, or take a break and watch a kids’ show in between bounces. Our kids loved the Circle Cycle, where they got to pedal stationary bicycles in a circle.

The staff was friendly and helpful when we checked in. I saw one staff member watch the kids at one of the inflatables, but for the most part, they want parents to supervise the kids.

The indoor facility is also well-kept. Bathrooms are available in the building and we saw a staff member wiping down one of the inflatables. They do not sell food, but they have vending machines with beverages.

We were there for about two hours and they went by very quickly. The kids got to burn their energies by bouncing, climbing, sliding, jumping and playing non-stop. One mom reported that her kids “inhaled their dinner with no fuss” and mine fell asleep faster than usual. Both are great reasons to go back to Sport Bounce!

Hop to JW Tumbles for Fun Birthday Parties and Classes

 - by Mia

My daughter had her 2nd birthday party at a local JW Tumbles. If you're not familiar with what JW Tumbles, it's a tumbling playground for little kids.

Birthday party
The party started with "friendship time" where it's a free play for all the kids until most of the rest of the party arrived. The kids ran around the gym, jumped on a trampoline, climbed up a ladder to ring a bell and went up and down the slide.

Jwtumbles_rollercoasterWhen most of the party arrived, we did a circle time as an introduction, and then the fun really started! The kids loved going on a zip line (they provided a swing as a seat for the zip line for the younger toddlers) and on a mini roller coaster ride.

At the end of the party, we held a red carpet ceremony for my daughter to hand out goody bags to the party attendees. So cute!

Tumbling class
We had such a great time at the birthday party, we signed up for a tumbling class there.

Class generally starts with a circle time that includes a quick tumbling lesson, a friendship time (free play), then the staff takes out various toys and games at different times for the kids to play with, back to the circle for some singing, then game time again. One more circle time at the end, and then the kids line up to get their hands stamped before they leave.

The games and activities always vary from week to week, which makes it fun and never boring. They usually set up four swings at the gym so the kids can take turn going on the swings. Sometimes they set up a larger swing so multiple kids can go on at the same time.

Other activities that we've done in class are surfing on a rocker, kicking a ball into a goal and walking across a wobbly bridge. They have puppet and bubble time, where kids can play with a hand puppet and pop bubbles. They also fill up a large sand bucket with balls for kids to play in.

For friendship time, kids are free to climb on a ladder on the wall and then ring a bell at the top of the ladder, jump on a trampoline, go rock climbing and climb up to a play house to go down a slide. The kids can also go on various gymnastics equipment, such as a practice beam, preschool bars, parallel bars and gym scooters.

We love going to JW Tumbles for a tumbling class. The JW Tumbles teachers are always enthusiastic, which makes the class a lot of fun. They're very good in varying the activities from week to week, so we never know which activities or games we will be doing each week.

In addition to holding birthday parties and tumbling classes, they have open gym times, camps and kid's night out events, too. During kid's night out, parents can drop off their kids for a staff-supervised play time at the gym. We haven't tried the open gym or other events yet, but I'm sure they're as fun as the birthday party and the class!
